On the Forefront of Social Justice
In this issue, you will meet our newest faculty—some of whom are returning to CUNY Law full time and in new capacities. The diverse array of extraordinary individuals who teach at CUNY School of Law bring real-world experience to the classroom.
We are uncompromising in our belief that one cannot separate theory from practice, abstract knowledge of doctrine from practical skills, and professional responsibility from professional experience.
To keep the public discourse focused on critical social justice issues, our faculty members write and speak on urgent national and international matters. Recent topics include the BP oil disaster, same-sex marriage, anti-immigration laws, the rights of detainees at Bagram Air Base, and prisoners’ rights.
CUNY Law faculty are a major presence at legal and academic conferences, including the Law And Society’s annual meeting, the annual AAL S Conference on Clinical Legal Education, and the Society of American Law Teachers conference. We are proud of our faculty, and we feel privileged to share their stories with you.
