Public service legal practice touches the core of our motto, “Law in the Service of Human Needs.” CUNY Law alums engaged in public service see their work as a direct means of fostering social justice—and as a means of holding the government accountable and working for the people.Whether it is through the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the EEOC, City Hall, the New York State Banking Department, Baltimore’s City Government, or New York’s Department of Homeless Services, CUNY Law alums are helping to balance the scales of justice. Individuals, families, and communities are affected positively by their work, as are the character and strength of our government.
The state and city judges and elected officials who graduated from CUNY Law work every day to make a difference in the lives of those they serve. Our passionate change-makers working in government service use the law for the greater good. This issue highlights just a sample of our dedicated alums in public service practice.
