For Life

CUNY Law Alumni

Your relationship with CUNY Law doesn't end at graduation. With programs, events and networking opportunities, we're with you throughout your career.

Alumni engagement

CUNY School of Law’s success is grounded in the wonderful work you, our alumni, have been doing in the world since your graduation!

With the return of Dean Mary Lu Bilek, the law school has launched a coordinated effort to build a dynamic alumni program. Our goal is to foster a lifelong relationship with our alumni that commences when you first enroll at CUNY Law and continues even into your retirement.

We are delighted to have Alizabeth Newman as the interim Executive Director of Alumni Engagement and Initiatives, bringing together this vibrant and active social justice community of alumni to support your work. The Engagement we hope to foster will have each alumni take advantage of a volunteer opportunity to assist in the delivery of our curriculum and to participate in the life of the law school. The Initiatives are professional programing though the Community Legal Resource Network (CLRN) to assist you in the development of your career.

We are working intently to update alumni records, gather your feedback on how the law school can serve as a continued resource to you, and create virtual communities with which to stay in dialogue.

Here is what you need to know immediately:

Practice / Affinity Groups

We are creating practice/affinity groups to put you in communication with others in your area of practice and who have shared interests. You can sign up for as many of these online discussion communities as you like. Once we have at least five members, we will establish the group, which we are hosting on Google Groups. Lawyering in Community

CUNY Law promotes many ways in which alumni can continue to practice law in community. Some might be using innovative models of lawyering in specific communities, while others may be practicing more traditional forms of representation, but are doing so with the benefit of our CUNY alumni network.
