CUNY School of Law Foundation

We are CUNY Law’s philanthropic partner, securing, managing, and stewarding the gifts of thousands of individuals, foundations, and businesses who care deeply about social change and justice for all.

Justice Doesn't Just Happen

Creating social change is complex. It happens at the grassroots and grasstops. From defending the defenseless through small practices and legal assistance organizations to affecting change at the legislative and judicial levels, CUNY School of Law trains individuals who right the wrongs of the world.

Folks like Judge Janet Malone ('89), who "always wanted to give a voice to those who didn't have one." As a New York State Supreme Court justice, she stands up for people every day and makes tough decisions.

Or Ignacio Jaureguilorda (’02), who has spent his career so far working on issues that affect poor people living with HIV/AIDS. Currently, he's the Director of Legal Services at AIDS Center of Queens County.

Our alumni are people like Nate Treadwell ('09), a staff attorney at Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, who defends struggling individuals against eviction, or helping them receive public assistance benefit.

It is people like Janet, Ignacio, Nate, and thousands more, who personify what CUNY Law has been about for the past 30 years. They represent the impact that CUNY has locally, nationally, globally.

you can have an impact, too.

Philanthropy plays an important role in the training and support of these amazing practioners of what we think of as "law in the service of human needs." Your gifts provide scholarships and fellowships so that our students can do meaningful public interest work during their summers. Donations from alumni and friends provide services for those in our Pipeline to Justice program, which prepares individuals for the rigors of law school and is a key part of our mission of enhancing the diversity of the legal profession.
